Inclusive Supportive Learning & Education

Our story so far..

After years of working in mainstream schools our vision for Isle was to offer much needed alternative education provision, which has evolved and succeeded.

The first two years here at Isle Study Centre have seen us move from a converted garage learning facility, to a dedicated learning supported education centre, with larger premises and more staff to fulfil the demand for alternative provision needs within the Scunthorpe and Doncaster area.

We are fully committed to doing what we do well  -and our students are our focus and priority.

We work closely in partnership with North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire councils to enable students to reintegrate into mainstream schools as soon as possible.

It is so rewarding to get students coming back thanking us and telling us of their individual success and progress -  that's the ultimate reward for us -  to see young lives transformed and why we do what we love.

Top 10 reasons for Alternative Education:

1. Personalised Learning

  • Alternative education allows for a more personalised approach to learning, where curriculum and teaching methods can be tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

2. Flexible Curriculum

  • Students can work at their own pace and explore subjects that are more aligned with their personal interests, which can increase engagement and motivation.

3. Smaller Class Sizes and 121

  • With a better student/teacher ratio we can provide more one-on-one attention, ensuring that each student receives the support they need.

4. Focus on Social and Emotional Learning

  • Alternative education programs often emphasise the development of social and emotional skills, helping students to build confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence.

5. Innovative Teaching Methods

  • These programs often utilise creative and non-traditional teaching methods, such as project-based learning, experiential learning, and outdoor education, which can be more engaging for students.

6. Supportive Environment

  • Alternative education settings tend to foster a more supportive and nurturing environment, where students feel safe and valued, which can be especially important for those who have struggled in traditional schools.

7. Reduced Stress and Pressure

  • The focus on holistic development and a less rigid structure can help reduce the stress and pressure often associated with traditional schooling, making learning more enjoyable.

8. Greater Autonomy and Responsibility

  • Students in alternative education settings often have more control over their learning, which encourages independence, responsibility, and self-discipline.

9. Catering to Diverse Needs

  • Alternative education is particularly beneficial for students with special needs, those who have experienced trauma, or those who simply don’t fit the mould of traditional schooling.

10. Preparation for Real-World Challenges

  • By focusing on practical skills, critical thinking, and real-world applications, alternative education can better prepare students for life beyond school, whether in further education, work, or personal development.
